Live Nativity

A video montage. With thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make it such a success.

Here is the wonderful poem by our very own Poet Laureate - Jen Oliver, perfectly describing the great event!

A Live Nativity

By Jen Oliver

It started at the Light Parade in Amble-by-the-Sea

With Dave's black van alight with signs of a Live Nativity

Harbour Lights a Christian church was following the fleet

Where people from around the town assembled in the street

Candy canes were handed out to children looking on

With flyers of the live event given out til all were gone

A lot of planning taken place by Lara as the head

With Derek stacking piles of wood in his garage and his shed

The stage was set on the green grass outside the Radcliffes doors

As Ambles children all lined up to visit Santa Claus

A stable with a manger was in situ overnight

A star lit up in tree above was shining very bright

The costumes were professional all made to fit your size

The three kings looked magnificent…..although not very wise!!

The census taker looked quite grim and took a bit of heckle

Especially when demanding tax of every single shekel

The Roman Soldier by his side was looking very frightening

Any sign of trouble and his sword was out like lightening

The potter Jill spun her wheel to mould the earth like clay

While the donkeys Tom and Teddy were munching on some hay

The sheep were nowhere to be found ….the shepherds were redundant

Instead they rounded up the kids of which they were abundant

The carpenter was shaving wood like Jesus would have done

The children all who had a go thought it such great fun

The fruit cart was exceptional with olives, dates and turmeric

But you should have seen the young girls face who chewed a lump of garlic

The sellers of the cloth and bread gave such a village feel

While the story tellers hung up flags and danced a Hebrew reel

The angels were so lovely….Angelic! well not quite

When they opened up their wings to fly they gave us all a fright

Joseph was quite talkative which wasn’t quite like him

He told of how the innkeeper just wouldn’t let them in

That’s why that in the stable with Mary by his side

Little baby Luca who was Jesus never cried

The weather it was poring down and everything was soaked

But God knows of the people whose hearts have been provoked

To stand and share the birth of Christ amid the teeming rain

Could not compare for what He’s done when down to earth He came
